The design concept of the project was to serve two purposes: to educate the next generation the significance of Xinhai Revolution in Chinese history and to find a new meaning for future generations. The lighting design for the museum attempted to transform the old into the new by creating traditional lighting design through the use of modern technology. We proposed a dramatically different lighting design for the museum and public open space. Numerous onsite testing were carried out to ensure the design concept could be achieved while fulfilling design expectations. The final design was as “revolutionary” as the project’s historical background.
